This Friday night a milestone will be achieved: The first professional women's soccer team in South Carolina will play their first match.
I'm of course talking about Central SC Cobras FC, which plays its first match against the Charlotte Lady Eagles this Friday night. The process for the organization leading up to this achievement was not an easy road.
It all started back in 2009 when the Cobras were founded. The team was formed in 2010, and they were admitted in to the USL's W-League on April 1, 2011.
This will be a huge match for the brand new team, and they're hoping for a good crowd to be on hand at Ben Lippen High School's Hatthaway-Weeber Stadium this Friday at 7:00 PM.

Real Salt Lake Advances to CCL Final, Plus Cobras News
First off, I'd like to give a big congratulations to Real Salt Lake, who are advancing to the Final of the CONCACAF Champions League.
This is a huge accomplishment, as they are the first MLS team to go to the Final since the LA Galaxy in 2000.
They advanced to the Final after defeating Saprissa on a 3-2 aggregate. Last night they had to go down to Saprissa (located in San Jose, Costa Rica), and defend a 2-0 lead.
Saprissa's Estadio Ricardo Saprissa Aymá is a tough place to play in the least.
After Saprissa's first goal, the fans were shaking the stadium, and everything in it. If you were watching the TV broadcast on Fox Soccer Channel, you know what I mean.
Salt Lake lost 2-1 last night, but the 2-0 win they had at Rio Tinto Stadium would see them through.
Central SC Cobras FC will open their season of friendlies on Friday, May 6th at 7:00 PM against the Charlotte Lady Eagles.
Adult tickets are only $5 and kid's tickets are $2, so make sure to head out to that match in a couple of weeks.

Central SC Cobras FC Official Announcement and Watch the Battery Live This Year
Today in a post on USLSoccer.com, the United Soccer Leagues officially welcomed the Columbia-based Central SC Cobras FC, to the USL W-League.
The Cobras will play a series of friendlies this year against W-League opponents, and will enter league play next year, in the 2012 W-League season.
I'm really am happy for the Cobras, and this is a big step for the game in South Carolina. Let's be honest, no matter if its women's, men's, or youth teams, more soccer is for the better. Hopefully, we will see the franchise be successful in the year's to come, and maybe in a couple of years we'll be seeing some former Cobras up in the WPS.
Also, very exciting news for any fan of the Battery or any team in the USL Pro. According to USLSoccer.com, 11 of the 15 USL Pro teams will be broadcasting all of their home games this season. We should be seeing around 20 Charleston games on http://usllive.com/ this year.
This is a great addition to http://usllive.com/, as last year they showed very few games. This will allow fans of these teams to watch the teams away fixtures easier, and help them find a connection with the team.
